How to Edit Reels With Claude: The Free invideo, HyperFrames and Remotion Setup Guide
You can edit Instagram Reels with Claude by connecting it to a video tool it can control. The three options in this guide are invideo, which Claude edits on a real timeline through a connector; HyperFrames by HeyGen, an open-source framework where Claude writes your video as HTML and renders it to MP4; and Remotion, whose agent skills teach Claude to build and render videos in React code.
Setup takes a few minutes. For invideo, add its connector to Claude and sign in with your invideo account. For HyperFrames, install its plugin in Claude Code. For Remotion, add its agent skills with one command. After that, you describe the edit in plain English and Claude does the cutting, captions, titles and rendering.
Which tool should you use?
| Tool | Best for | Runs in | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| invideo | The easiest start: timeline editing you can also change by hand | The Claude app | Depends on your invideo plan |
| HyperFrames | Animated titles, captions, motion graphics, website-to-video | Your computer, via Claude Code | Free and open source |
| Remotion | Reusable video templates, if you are comfortable with a little code | Your computer, via Claude Code | Free for individuals and small companies |
- invideo: the easiest start. It works in the Claude app, the edit happens on a normal video timeline you can also change by hand, and you export a finished video or a project file for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
- HyperFrames: best for animated titles, captions, motion graphics and turning a website into a video. It runs on your own computer through Claude Code (or another coding agent) and is free and open source.
- Remotion: best if you are comfortable with a little code or want reusable video templates. It also runs on your computer, and it is free for individuals and small companies (see the license note below).
None of these tools is made by Anthropic. They are separate products that work with Claude.
What is invideo’s Claude connector?
invideo’s connector is an MCP server that lets Claude open a project in invideo’s video editor and make the edits for you on the timeline.
According to invideo, your agent opens a project in invideo Editor and sends you the link. Each cut, title and transition shows up as it happens, under a cursor with your agent’s name. It is the same timeline you edit by hand, so you can fix a cut yourself and keep working alongside Claude.
How to connect invideo to Claude
- In the Claude app, add invideo from Claude’s connector directory.
- Sign in with your invideo account when asked.
- Start a new chat and tell Claude what video you are making. Claude creates the project and sends you the editor link.
How to connect invideo to Claude Code
invideo’s own setup guide covers Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents. The server address is https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp. You can add it yourself in Claude Code with:
claude mcp add --transport http invideo https://mcp.invideo.io/mcp
Or paste invideo’s setup prompt into your agent and let it connect itself. The prompt points the agent to invideo.io/agents.md, asks it to check with you before changing settings, and asks it to tell you if you need to restart or sign in.
What you can ask invideo to do
- Rough cut: cut a short teaser from your footage with a title card and music.
- Color: match skin tones across clips and add film grain.
- Captions: add word-by-word captions to a talking-head video.
- Audio: duck music under a voiceover, clean up room hum and level the mix.
- Generate: create b-roll shots and place them between clips.
- Deliver: rebuild a cut as 9:16 for Reels and export the video plus a Premiere Pro project.
What is HyperFrames?
HyperFrames is an open-source framework from HeyGen that turns HTML, CSS, media and animations into MP4 videos, so Claude can write a video the same way it writes a web page.
It renders each frame in a headless Chrome browser and encodes the result with FFmpeg, so the same input always gives the same video. It is released under the Apache 2.0 license, with no per-render fees.
How to install HyperFrames in Claude Code
You need Node.js 22 or newer and FFmpeg on your computer.
- Add the HyperFrames marketplace:
claude plugin marketplace add heygen-com/hyperframes - Install the plugin:
claude plugin install hyperframes@hyperframes - In Claude Code, run
/hyperframes:hyperframesand describe the video you want.
Using another agent instead? Add the skills with npx skills add heygen-com/hyperframes and pick the Core Skills group.
What HyperFrames can make
- Animated titles and motion graphics: text, shapes and logos animated in code, rendered to MP4, WebM, MOV or GIF.
- Captions and voiceovers: caption tracks and audio built into the composition.
- Website to video: the
hyperframes capturecommand captures a website for use in a video. - Live preview:
hyperframes previewopens a studio so you can check the video before rendering.
In testing for this guide, Claude built and rendered a 4.5-second vertical title animation with HyperFrames in 16 seconds.
What are Remotion agent skills?
Remotion is a framework for making videos with React code, and its agent skills teach Claude Code and other agents Remotion’s best practices so they can create, preview and render videos for you.
How to add Remotion skills to Claude Code
- Run
npx skills add remotion-dev/skillsin your terminal. - Or start a new Remotion project with
bun create video, which offers to add the skills for you. - Ask Claude for a video, or call a skill by name, for example
/remotion-create Make a promo video for a record store.

- /remotion-best-practices: covers all the other skills; use it when you are not sure which one you need.
- /remotion-create: creates a new Remotion project or composition.
- /remotion-markup: layouts, animations, typography, media, effects, audio, fonts and timing.
- /remotion-captions: captions and subtitles.

How to edit a Reel with Claude, step by step
- Put your clips in one place: talking head, b-roll, screen recordings and any logos.
- Pick the tool: invideo for timeline editing, HyperFrames or Remotion for animated graphics and captions built in code.
- Give Claude a clear brief: 9:16 at 1080 x 1920, the length, the hook, caption style, brand colors as hex codes and fonts.
- Review the first version and send notes. Ask Claude to change only what your notes mention.
- Export the final video and upload it to Instagram yourself.
Prompt library
Copy a prompt, replace everything in [BRACKETS] with your own details, and paste it into Claude.
Rough cut in invideo
Open a new 9:16 invideo project called [PROJECT NAME]. Using the clips I give you, cut a [LENGTH]-second Reel. Open on [HOOK MOMENT], keep only the strongest lines, add a title card that says “[TITLE]” and put [MUSIC STYLE] music under it at a low volume. Send me the editor link when the rough cut is ready.
Word-by-word captions
Add word-by-word captions to [VIDEO]. Use [FONT] in [TEXT COLOR HEX] on a [BACKING, for example a dark rounded box]. Keep the captions in the middle of the frame, clear of the bottom fifth where Instagram’s buttons sit. Show these key words in [ACCENT COLOR HEX]: [KEY WORDS].
Animated title card with HyperFrames
Use HyperFrames to make a [LENGTH]-second 1080 x 1920 title card. Background [BACKGROUND HEX]. Headline “[HEADLINE]” in [FONT] [HEADLINE HEX], with a smaller line underneath that says “[SUBLINE]”. Animate the headline in letter by letter, then render it to MP4.
Website to video with HyperFrames
Use HyperFrames to capture [WEBSITE URL] and turn it into a [LENGTH]-second vertical promo for [PRODUCT]. Scroll slowly, zoom into [SECTION OF THE PAGE], and end on a card that says “[CALL TO ACTION]”. Render it at 1080 x 1920.
Caption template with Remotion
Use the Remotion skills to create a 1080 x 1920, 30 fps composition that plays [VIDEO FILE] and shows its captions word by word from [TRANSCRIPT FILE]. Use [FONT] in [TEXT COLOR HEX] and show [KEY WORDS] in [ACCENT COLOR HEX]. Open it in Remotion Studio so I can check it, then render it.
Feedback round
Here are my notes on this cut: [YOUR NOTES]. Change only these things, keep everything else exactly as it is, and tell me what you changed.
Things worth knowing
- None of these tools posts to Instagram for you. You export the video and upload it yourself.
- invideo works through your own invideo account, so what you can generate and export depends on your invideo plan.
- HyperFrames and Remotion run on your computer, not in the Claude app. You need Claude Code (or another coding agent) and Node.js; HyperFrames also needs FFmpeg.
- Plugins and skills can run commands on your machine. Read what a plugin adds before you install it, and install from the official repos linked below.
- Always watch the final export before posting. Check caption spelling, timing and anything covered by Instagram’s buttons at the bottom of the screen.
